• Unshaped Refractory Materials

Unshaped refractory materials are defined as” mixtures consisting of aggregates, additives, and binders, prepared for direct use in the state of delivery or after adding suited liquids”. In contrast to refractory bricks, they are without specific shape and are in majority placed in larger sections behind molds and templates forming a monolithic lining. Gunning installations without the requirement for a mold are increasing due to ease of application and higher installation speed.

Tabular Alumina for High Purity Corundum Brick

Characteristics

This is pure α-alumina obtained by intensive sintering at temperatures above 1800 ° C, without the use of sintering additives. It is characterized by large, well-developed crystals of α-alumina up to 200 μm long, which are in the form of a hexagonal plate. Low thermal expansion and high heat resistance are explained by the features of the microstructure: low open porosity and large crystal size with closed spherical pores formed during intense sintering.
