Applications:
1. Shaped and unshaped refractory
Tabular alumina can be used as the main component in aluminum-carbon, aluminum-magnesium-carbon, magnesia-aluminum-carbon, magnesia spinel, aluminum-chromium refractory bricks, or as a component of unshaped refractory products.
2. Sliding nozzle for steel industry
With good thermal shock stability and wear resistance which are required for refractory materials for sliding nozzles, the sintered tabular alumina can precisely meet all the demands as sliding nozzle. The aluminum-carbon sliding nozzle made from sintered tabular alumina mixing with graphite (or carbon black) and antioxidant, or aluminum-zirconium-carbon sliding nozzle made from sintered tabular alumina mixing with appropriate amount of zirconia, graphite (or carbon black) and antioxidant are very popular in steel making industry.
3. Ladle castables (Kiln furniture)
With the continuous development of refining technology outside the furnace, the use environment of refractory materials in ladle is becoming more and more demanding. The molten steel needs to stay longer in the ladle for stirring, heating, and erosion of different steel slags. The single material (such as magnesium or aluminum) of the ladle lining has been replaced by composite materials. The aluminum-magnesium spinel castables made from sintered tabular corundum and spinel is more used for the bottom or wall of the cladding as linings.
4. Refractory prefabrication
Raw materials for breathable bricks, seat bricks, spray guns, impact plates, etc. Those prefabrications produce by tabular alumina are not only part of the refractory lining of the ladle, but also play a very important role in the steelmaking process itself. Adopting tabular alumina will increase wear resistance and corrosion resistance of those products.
